European Championship, Porec, CroatiaThe first round of the UIM Aquabike European Championship was held this weekend in Porec, Croatia. This would be SAS-Racings debut on their new Pro Force hulls. The team riders, Stian Schjetlein and Emma-Nellie Örtendahl respectively riding in Ski GP 1 and Women Ski GP1 had very limited time to prepare for this race, Stian with less than 30 minutes of riding time on his new ski.Everything started off very well with Emma-Nellie winning her Pole Position by setting the fastest lap time a staggering 7 seconds faster than the rider in 2nd place. In Ski GP1 there was a lot of riders trying to qualify and Stian ended up winning his qualifier setting a lap time 0,7 seconds ahead of the winner of the other qualifier, Jeremy Poret. In moto 1 Stian got a very convincing holeshot and lead the moto for 8-9 minutes when he had some trouble in the splits and let Jeremy Poret by. Stian stayed close to Poret and was able to challenge him for the lead again on the last lap, but came up just a few centimeters short going around the last buoy.Moto 2 didn’t start off quite as good. Starting in 5th place Stian was able to pass his way up to 3rd pretty fast and stayed on Jeremy Poret for the remainder of the race. With some water in the carbs in the third start, Stian started way back in the field, but managed to get back up to 4thwithin the first 10 minutes of the race. He went on to chase down Nacho Armillas and Kevin Reiterer, had lost too much time moving through the pack. Passing Armillas in the second to last lap as he made a big mistake in the splits put Stian into 3rd which gave him a great 2nd place overall.Emma-Nellie on the other hand had some pretty boring races as she got all three holeshots and immediately pulled away from the field and would move on to win every moto about half a lap in front of the 2nd place.All in all it was a huge success for the SAS-Racing Team. Now we are on our way back home, it will be a quick 36 hour drive from Croatia to Norway.Huge thanks to all our sponsors: T1R, Pro Watercraft Racing, Blowsion, Jettribe, Jettrim, IPD graphics, ODI Grips, Spy Optics, Yamaha Bergen, Bilskadesenteret, Tom´s Lakkservice, BCsport.no, Norsafe MC utstyrDSC_2053 5 4 3 2 1Like, Tag & Share!
