International motorsport promoter, P1 announced at Sportel Monaco 2013 today that it has signed a TV deal with broadcaster FOX Sports Florida.

International motorsport promoter, P1 announced at Sportel Monaco 2013 today that it has signed a TV deal with broadcaster FOX Sports Florida for coverage of its SuperStock powerboat racing championship and AquaX jet ski series in 2014. The deal will provide the American broadcaster through its Sun Sports channel with 12 programmes across the summer.

For more than 20 years, FOX Sports Florida together with FOX’s Sun Sports network have been fixtures in the homes of sports fans across the Sunshine State, and the new partnership with P1 will add more than 20 hours of top class motorsport action to its award-winning coverage of Florida’s hometown teams.

Speaking in Monaco, P1 chief executive James Durbin said: “As a global motorsport with a regional focus in the USA, FOX’s Sun Sports is the perfect domestic broadcaster for P1. Our two race series are hosted by some of the best known resorts in the state, which adds to the glamour, colour and excitement. We already have extensive global television coverage but it was vital to secure a local channel partner and we are delighted that it is FOX Sports Networks.”
The P1 SuperStock USA powerboat championship, which comprises 5 events, began racing in 2011 and P1 AquaX jet ski racing was launched in Florida this year. “Our new partnership with FOX Sports is a reflection of the strength of our motorsport championships and will add huge value to our commercial partners, plus the obvious benefits of increased exposure and advertising opportunities” added Durbin.

FOX’s regional sports network is available in more than 6.5 million cable and satellite homes across the state, and has become a leading online source for Florida sports fans. Tim Ivy, director of programming at Fox Sports Networks in Ft Lauderdale said: “We are delighted to be running a double bill of marine motorsport action next year, and are confident that the focus on Florida and high quality production will deliver excellent audience ratings.”

The final round of this season’s P1 SuperStock USA and P1 AquaX championships will take place at St. Cloud next month.
