The City of Gulfport, Florida and O’Maddy’s Bar and Grille rolled out the red carpet to help us kick off the 2013 PWC racing season this last weekend. Gulfport Aquamania was a huge success, with tons of spectators lining the seawall, enjoying the 80-degree weather and some of the best PWC racing in the country! to Sea-Doo, Jettribe, RIVA Racing, Pro Rider Watercraft Magazine, Fulmer Helmets, Exotic Signs, the City of Gulfport, Gulfport area Chamber of Commerce, O’Maddy’s Bar and Grille, The IJSBA, Barney’s of St. Pete, FL. and last but not least all the racers, friends and spectators that made this event what it was. We could not have done it without YOU!

The biggest class, and one of the most exciting to watch this weekend was Sport Spec. Sam Nehme of Broward Motorsports, Glen Jung of Optimaracing.com and Team Mean’s Susan Anderson finished the weekend in the top three spots in the points chase towards Islamorada, FL. The small and fast runabouts, navigating through the large course and into the split section, racing towards the crowd and seawall made for some of the best spectating.

On Sunday, both Pro-Am Ski Open, and the combined Pro-Am Runabout Stock/Pro-Am 800 Open/Novice Runabout Stock classes had some great battles. In Pro-Am Ski Open we saw the return of Barney’s Brian Dennis after many years of not racing. He had a great weekend finishing second behind Josh Block on Sunday, and second in overall points for Saturday and Sunday behind Broward Motorsports/Team Mean’s David Cabrera. Sea-Doo/RIVA Racing/Neptune rider Troy Snyder had a clean sweep with first place in all motos for both days in Pro-Am Runabout Stock… but I have to say that Tim Ducat is fast off the line on his 800 open Sea-Doo! Clay Barbee took the overall points for round one and two in Novice Runabout Stock, but Casey Moore pulled out the win on Sunday with her return to the big Sea-Doo Runabout.

As always, a highlight of the weekend was Jason “The Destroyer” Stoyer! We want to give special thanks to him for putting on an awesome freestyle show both days in the middle of the racing… it remains one of the crowd’s favorites!

All of this, along with O’Maddy’s Cheese Steaks, Smokin J’s BBQ and Kaykaknature.com helping with our great group of manatee observers, allowed us to pull off a racing season opener to be proud. We could not have asked for a better weekend, and a better group of people coming together to do what we love! For the full official race results from Gulfport, Florida please visit http://www.prohydrox.com/2013points.html[fblike]
